convenia injection dogs - HEALTHY
Convenia is often used for ferals because you can't pill them, so it works with just one injection, but personally I have found that Clavamox works fastest with wounds and abscesses. My 3 year old male cat, Oliver, got a Convenia injection , and sure enough he's got the Convenia "funk" of lethargy and low appetite. I'd like to hear from others who've had this happen with their kitties, and I'm wondering how long this might go on, in general?

Hi Firejade1 My cat was given an injection of Convenia for a minor dental issue. Exactly 14 days later he started throwing up white foam and wouldn't eat or drink.
He developed what I believe was kidney failure and died last Wednesday. Convenia is processed through the kidneys, it is hard on the kidneys because it is a long acting antibiotic. The antibiotic lasts for 14 days but convenia stays in the cats system for 2 months or longer causing horrible side effects.
